AN OTTOMAN TURKISH GILT AND SILVER-INLAID KARD DAGGER WITH LAPIS LAZULI HILT, 19TH CENTURY An Ottoman Turkish kard dagger with a long, slightly recurved single-edged blade of patterned steel, decorated along either side with recessed panels of stylized Islamic calligraphy and arabesque ornament in silver-colored inlay, highlighted and bordered in gold. The forte is further embellished with scrolling foliate decoration and gold inlay. Fitted with a long, slightly flaring lapis lazuli hilt of deep blue and turquoise coloration. Dimensions: L: 13 1/2 in., (34.3 cm.) Condition: Gilding well preserved, with only a few tiny spots of loss. One tiny chip at the bottom of the blade edge. Hilt is in excellent condition.
