Duwe, Harald (Hamburg 1926 - 1984 Tremsbüttel). Portrait of an old lady. Oil on canvas. 1960. Signed and dated. 99 x 79 cm. Framed. After completing his studies in Hamburg, Duwe worked as a freelance artist and received a scholarship from the Cultural Circle of the Federation of German Industries. He primarily created landscape paintings, which, however, did not sell as widely as hoped, so in 1964 he accepted a teaching position in spatial representation at the Hamburg Engineering School for Automotive Technology. - An old lady in a burgundy dress is seated in an armchair; an interior is visible in the background. - According to the previous owner, the portrait was commissioned by a close friend of Duwe's, who was on the board of Siemens near Munich, and probably depicts his mother.
