Vicaire V, 770; Sander 309. - First edition, published posthumously two years after Grandville's death. - In his last illustrated work, Grandville personifies the stars, which, as charming and mystical female beings, hover above the earth. At the beginning of the work, Grandville says that he has focused his gaze on the earth for too long; now he wants to raise it to the heavens. He will soon be able to study the stars up close, since he knows his death is imminent. - Some light foxing, the plates partly slightly finger-marked in the white outer margins, endpapers somewhat stained with glue.
