The first edition of this dissertation on compulsory mills appeared in 1678.- Compulsory milling is the lord's right to enforce the use of a specific mill by his subjects, as well as the subjects' obligation to fulfill this demand (German Legal Dictionary IX, column 953). Thus, the miller received a monopoly, but usually had to hand over a large part of his income to the lord of the manor.- Title slightly foxed.
