VD 16 H 2545; Adams H 421. - First edition, the only one in the 16th century. - The Basel theologian Johannes Herold belonged to the circle around Erasmus and was, among other things, introduced to the study of hieroglyphs. - Included are, among other things, a large number of hieroglyphs that embellish Herold's translation of Horapollo. - The second part, containing the first translation of Diodorus Siculus's cosmography, is missing from the present compilation. - Slightly foxed, upper outer corner partly with slight damp staining, one repaired corner tear (some text loss), occasional small edge lesions and wormholes. Almost throughout with old, discreet marginalia and underlinings in reddish-brown ink.
