766 - Serge BRIGNONI (1903-2002)

Serge BRIGNONI (1903-2002) On the island Amrun Oil on canvas, signed and dated '22 lower right 47.5 × 66 cm, frame: 69.5 × 85 cm An early and rare work by the artist. Here, Brignoni follows in the tradition of painters such as Otto Modersohn (co-founder of the Worpswede artists' colony) and his wife Paula Modersohn-Becker, who painted several works on Amrum. The painting demonstrates that the young Brignoni was still searching for his own style, yet it already reveals his skill.
