Vacheron CONSTANTIN "DECK CHRONOMETER", GENEVA 1943 Rare and heavy Vacheron Constantin Geneva deck chronometer in a 60.5 mm sterling silver case, stamped "0.925" on the inside. The case back bears the original military engraving "H.S.↑2" and the inventory number "55061". "H.S." stands for Hydrographic Services and confirms its use on a British naval vessel. All case parts are signed, Swiss hallmarked, and numbered. The matte silver dial, signed "VACHERON & CONSTANTIN GENÈVE", with bold Arabic numerals, outer minute track, and Arabic 5-second intervals, is equipped with original blued steel spade hands and a central seconds hand. The watch is powered by a signed and numbered, gold-plated hand-wound chronometer movement with an anchor escapement, which features a Breguet balance spring and a swan-neck micrometer regulator. The movement is fully gold-plated, with wide Geneva stripes, highly polished caps, and recessed jewels. The watch is in working order and comes with its original wooden deck box with a brass plaque attached to the inside.
