Vintage educational display panel focused on scuba diving and Hookah breathing apparatuses. The piece was originally part of a museum exhibit, labeled as Case 17. The display features a central chromogenic color print with a printed card explaining the use of compressors over scuba tanks. Frame: 20 7/8 x 13 3/4 x 5/8 in. A personal note from Wendy Benchley: “This photo is of Teddy Tucker of Bermuda working on uncovering a wreck using a hookah. Teddy could indeed stay down all day and would often do this for days on end. He was half fish. Bob Page's exhibit explained the intricacies of uncovering wrecks and identifying artifacts. Peter bought the exhibit from Bob Page's widow, and some of the artifacts in Peter's collection came from this exhibit.” From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: Significant color shift is present throughout the emulsion toward cyan and yellow-green hues. Small spots of pitting and minor emulsion loss are visible on the print surface. The glass shows light scuffing and faint surface scratches. The black-painted wooden frame exhibits moderate wear, including scuffs and small chips to the paint at the corners and edges. The verso has several strips of aged, yellowed adhesive tape and associated staining to the brown paper backing. NOTICE TO BIDDERS: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
