A 1995 New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame induction plaque awarded to author Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006). The circular plaque is constructed from terracotta with a blue-green patinated finish. 10 1/2" diameter x 3/4" D. Peter's 1995 induction into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. A fitting honor for a writer who wrote JAWS in the back room of a furnace repair shop in Pennington, New Jersey. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: A visible chip is present on the upper right outer edge. The plaque shows scattered minor surface wear and small areas of loss to the blue-green patinated finish consistent with age.
