Pair of novelty shark-themed hats manufactured by Anagram International. The first item is a Mad Kapps inflatable hat, preserved in its original clear plastic retail packaging. The second item is a three-dimensional molded hat composed of soft light blue vinyl or plastic. 12 3/4" L x 6 1/4" W x 11 1/2" H. Each of these was sent to Peter by a fan or a publisher over the years. For the novel mug in Lot 157, pour in hot water and watch what happens to the color of the water. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: The molded shark hat shows significant age-related wear, including surface soiling and grayish discoloration throughout the blue body. A visible horizontal tear is present in the material at the base of the dorsal fin where it meets the main body. The elastic chin strap is present but exhibits loss of tension. Scuffing and paint loss are visible on the eyes and teeth. The inflatable hat remains unopened in its original packaging; the bag shows moderate creasing, shelf wear, and small perforations to the plastic film.
