The piece is signed Peter Benchley in the upper left corner with his signature shark drawing, both in black ink. The photo is mounted within a paper mat and supported by cardstock backing. Photo: 14 x 11 in. Mat: 18 3/4 x 16 in. The climax of the film: Chief Brody clinging to the mast of the sinking Orca for his last shot at the shark. Each of these 14-by-11-inch color reproductions on matte paper is signed “Peter Benchley” in black ink in the upper left corner, beside the little shark he drew with his name. Peter kept a supply of them on hand to answer the fan mail that never stopped coming, and he tried hard to stay ahead of it. These are among the last he signed. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation.
