Group of 11 production prints and photographs from Jaws (Universal, 1975) sent from Universal Studios to the office of Peter Benchley. Accompanied by a handwritten provenance note from Wendy Benchley. The collection includes color and black-and-white prints featuring key cinematic moments, including the opening attack on Chrissie Watkins, the Alex Kintner beach sequence, and the climactic struggle aboard the Orca. Several images provide detailed views of the animatronic shark, known as Bruce, and the principal cast including Roy Scheider as Chief Brody and Robert Shaw as Quint. Largest: 11" H x 14" W. Universal sent these eleven stills, in color and black and white, to Peter's office as the film was released: the opening attack, the Kintner boy on the crowded beach, Bruce, and the final fight aboard the Orca. They come with a handwritten provenance note from Wendy Benchley. From the personal collection of Peter Benchley (American, 1940-2006), acclaimed author of Jaws, accomplished diver, and prominent advocate for ocean and shark conservation. Proceeds from the Peter Benchley Collection will benefit five ocean conservation organizations: Peter Benchley Ocean Awards, WildAid, Beneath the Waves, Blue Frontier and Environmental Defense Fund. CONDITION: The prints exhibit varying degrees of age-related wear. Several color images show significant cyan and yellow color shifting consistent with older photographic emulsions. Minor corner wear, edge curling, and small surface indentations are visible across several prints. A few examples show distinct yellowing at the edges. The black-and-white print and the high-contrast color stills appear to have more stable color balance. NOTICE TO BIDDERS: The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. Photos are considered part of the condition report. Complete condition information is available by request, please request no later than 24 hours prior to the auction. All lots are offered and sold "as is", and Willow Auctions will not provide refunds based on condition. Timepiece movements, lighting and electrics have not been tested, and art has not been examined out of the frame unless otherwise stated.
