Clémentine DE CHABANEIX Fox and Owl - 2026 Glazed stoneware Incised signature 72 × 37.50 × 25 cm Glazed stoneware, incised signature 28.35 × 14.76 × 9.84 in. Provenance: Galerie du Passage, Paris Acquired from the gallery by the current owner Born in 1972 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Clémentine de Chabaneix grew up surrounded by art. After studying theater, she learned drawing, painting, and sculpture at the École Pradier, then assisted designer Hilton McConnico with Hermès exhibitions. Clémentine de Chabaneix sculpts glazed clay, sometimes incorporating branches or flowers created using electroforming—a technique passed down through the generations by her mother, who learned it from Claude Lalanne. Her world is populated by a young woman and her poetic companions—such as frogs, rabbits, cats, bears, flowers, and even a wolf mask—all entwined, camouflaged, and sometimes blending into one another. Men are absent from this world. The result is a parallel world free of predators, governed by care and tenderness, where the terrors of childhood also surface beneath the softness of the glazes. Sought after for installations in prestigious venues, notably during the Fondation Cartier’s “Soirées Nomades,” Clémentine de Chabaneix lives and works in Paris. She is represented by galleries in Paris, Liège, Nantes, Rome, and Los Angeles. Clémentine DE CHABANEIX
