BROOCH Flower and Foliage, Gold and Diamonds A brooch depicting a blooming flower set amidst radiant foliage, with long, finely chiseled yellow gold leaves resembling palm fronds, blooming around a center set with a brilliant-cut diamond; several leaves accented with rows of brilliant-cut diamonds. Central brilliant-cut diamond weighing approximately 0.40 carats; forty-four brilliant-cut diamonds set in rows, estimated total weight approximately 2.20 carats. French craftsmanship, 18-karat yellow gold (750 ‰) and platinum; eagle’s head hallmark. Master’s hallmark of René Dieu (initials RD, symbol of two ears of wheat, 35 rue Oberkampf in Paris, engraved on January 28, 1933). Circa 1950. Height: 5 cm — Width: 4.8 cm — Gross weight: 16.5 g.
