"SPUTNIK" BROOCH Gold, turquoise, coral, and diamonds A radiating “Sputnik”-style brooch in yellow gold, decorated with bristling gold wires, set with eighteen turquoise cabochons in an outer ring and eighteen coral cabochons in an inner ring, with the center adorned by an old-cut diamond. The central diamond weighs approximately 0.20 carats. Eighteen turquoise cabochons and eighteen coral cabochons. French craftsmanship, 18-karat yellow gold (750 ‰); eagle’s head hallmark. Master’s hallmark difficult to read, possibly that of René Jacquiot (initials RJ, symbol: a pointed tower, 65 rue du Château des Rentiers in Paris, stamped on March 15, 1947). Circa 1960.
