VIENNA Förster & Co. Figurative Art Nouveau table lamp, ca. 1905, designed by Gustav Gurschner (Mühldorf 1873–Vienna 1971), a rare ceramic figure of a female semi-nude wearing a flowing gown, holding an etched, iridescent glass sphere as a lampshade in her hands, painted in pastel tones, with the embossed signature “Gurschner,” inscribed “Deposé,” and the “Förster” bee mark of the A. Förster & Co. Art Ceramics Factory from the period between 1898–1908. There is a small hairline crack in the robe; the figure has been retouched with color at the front corners of the base and at the hem of the robe, and is partially worn. Electrical connections have been checked—the lamp is in working order, height 52 cm.
