OTTOMAN EMPIRE, Balkan region, 19th century. Yatagan. Handle with small lugs and scabbard, on a wooden core, made of silver sheet (min. 800) engraved and chased with flowers, scrolls, foliage, and military trophies. Single-edged blade with a flat back, decorated with a zigzag pattern. The pommel is adorned with two applied silver elements (min. 800), both decorated in the same style. A loop on the top of the scabbard. Hallmarked with the Swan. Total gross weight: 589 g. - Blade length: 38 cm - Total length: 54 cm. Signs of wear, scratches, and dents; heel ornament missing on one side of the heel; oxidation on the blade.
