Milatz, Franciscus Andreas (1763–1808). A wooded scene with two figures in the foreground, one lying down and one sitting. A richly nuanced drawing, executed in ink with a brush. Inscribed “Milatz (Milatss)” by an earlier hand on the backing board. 32.6 × 40.4 cm. With his pronounced preference for small figures drawn from a distance in the vicinity of groups of trees, the Dutch artist Franciscus Andreas Milatz is most closely associated with the Nuremberg landscape painter Johann Christoph Dietzsch (1710–1769).
