Bookplates. – H.C. Bärenholdt. Tegner Bookplates. Handwritten manuscript by Svend Rindholt, 38 sheets of handmade paper with 103 (19 signed) original bookplates bound in. Based on the monograph on the Danish artist Hans Christian Bärenholt (1880–1976), published in Odense in 1961. The title page was drawn and illustrated by H.C. Bärenholt; it is original, and the monogrammed vignette is taken from one of his own bookplates. The manuscript and its furnishings passed into Bärenholt’s possession, then into the collection of Kristen Rasmussen, whose Bärenholt bookplate (two-color woodcut on Japanese paper) is on the inside front cover, signed, dated 1961, hand-numbered as one of 50 prints, and marked with a work number. Also included are additional bookplates for the author and writer Svend Rindholt (1901–1969), a Danish writer and, among other works, the author of a 1970 publication about the collector Kristen Rasmussen, through whom this manuscript came into the possession of the German ex-libris collector Ernst Deeken. – Half-parchment binding with gilded spine; the manuscript credits the Copenhagen bookbinder Rigmor Birkedal Kragh (1912–1998) for the binding.
