Paul Dujardin (1843–1913) after Théobald Chartran (1849–1907) — Sarah Bernhardt as Gismonda. Circa 1905. Heliogravure on heavy paper. Published by Pierre Lafitte. Sheet size: 41x28.5 cm. A faint horizontal tear in the left margin and one in the right margin. This piece, which is likely a free supplement offered to readers of the newspaper *Femina*, depicts the famous actress in her stage costume from Victorien Sardou’s play. The image is reminiscent of the poster by Alphonse Mucha that launched her career with such dazzling success. Note the reproduction of the artist’s signature, which is far from trivial, as she is considered the inventor of autographs.
