Robert Oscar Blechman (1930-) - The New Yorker. 1979. 106.5 x 74.5 cm. Original poster, offset and lithographic print. Mounted on canvas. Condition A-, 4 restored thumbtack holes in the corners. This poster is one of New York’s most iconic images. It also served as the cover of the magazine’s October 1, 1979, issue. In a single image, the artist presents a panoramic view of the city’s most remarkable landmarks at night. Clearly visible are the Chrysler Building, the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, the UN Building, the Citicorp Center, and the Helmsley Building... Through this rather surprising aesthetic choice, this press poster almost becomes a tourism poster for the U.S.
