Autographed copy, signed on the first page: To Pontalis, with my friendship G Perec Writer and psychoanalyst Jean-Bertrand Pontalis (1924–2013) was one of the leading figures at *Les Temps Modernes*. Above all, beginning in 1971—ten years before the publication of *La Clôture et autres poèmes*—he served as Georges Perec’s psychoanalyst. Perec “wrote *Les Lieux d’une ruse* in 1977, a brief text of about a dozen pages on his analysis. […] What makes this analysis an extraordinary story is that Pontalis wrote nine texts—nine!—in which he discussed Perec’s case in fairly straightforward terms” (Claude Burgelin, *Georges Perec*, p. 200).
