Henri MICHAUX. A Reading of Eight Lithographs by Zao Wou-Ki. Paris, Éditions Euros and Robert J. Godet, 1950. Folio, loose-leaf, illustrated hardcover, publisher’s slipcase. First edition illustrated with 8 original color lithographs by Zao Wou-Ki. “The painter, who left Shanghai for Paris in April 1948, has just settled in Montparnasse. This collaboration between the painter and the poet marked the beginning of a long friendship, founded on a shared lucidity illuminated by humor. Michaux, who wrote only very rarely about painters, devoted two other texts to Zao Wou-Ki” (BnF, Henri Michaux, no. 155). Limited edition of 92 copies: one of 8 copies on Rives B.F.K. paper featuring an original watercolor, signed by the poet and the painter (no. IV). The superb original watercolor signed by Zao Wou-Ki, reproduced opposite, has been framed separately.
