Silver print, 26.8 x 20.1 cm, with handwritten annotations and the stamp “Brassaï 81 rue du Faubourg St. Jacques” on the back. A beautiful portrait showing Henri Michaux facing the camera, cigarette in hand. It is well known how reluctant Michaux was to be photographed: Brassaï was one of the very few photographer friends with whom the poet socialized. Contemporary print with the photographer’s stamp on the reverse. Signs of creasing.
