Precious autograph dedication signed on the half-title page: To Dora Maar, / who was the first to tell me / that my poems were beautiful and that / I should write more, / faithfully / Georges Bataille In the 1930s, united by artistic and ideological concerns, Georges Bataille and Dora Maar had an affair. The writer’s unique world was to influence Dora Maar’s work, which straddled eroticism and surrealism. (Les Livres de Dora Maar, 1998, no. 217.) Slightly warped, with minor pinholes on the cover.
