Louis ARAGON. *Blanche, or Oblivion*. Novel. Paris, Gallimard, 1967. In-8, paperback, flap cover. First edition: press copy. A precious autographed copy, signed on the half-title page to Roman Jakobson: To Roman, this / book, which is a gift / and which already owes him so much / but which I was almost / ashamed to send him / in manuscript form / with warm regards / Aragon A wonderful provenance from the Russian linguist Roman Jakobson (1896–1982), a friend of Elsa Triolet’s since their shared youth in pre-1917 Moscow. Born in the same year, they belonged to the same intellectual circle. Aragon had evidently submitted to the linguist his novel, which was entirely imbued with the latter’s ideas. The author corrected six typographical errors in the text. There are pencil marks throughout the text, likely made by Jakobson himself. The cover is slightly worn.
