ROLF KUHRT (born in 1936 in Bergzow, based in Kirch Rosin) Male Torso Wood, carved in the round, partially flamed, on a rectangular granite pedestal, 106 x 23.5 x 11 cm (total height: 208 cm). Rolf Kuhrt is best known for his woodcuts, paintings, and sculptures. The “Male Torso” reduces the human figure to a powerful, abstract form. The expressive carving and the partially flamed wood surface lend the sculpture a dynamic, almost archaic effect. The geometric granite base provides a striking contrast to this.
