KLAUS FUSSMANN (born 1938 in Velbert; works in Gelting and Berlin) Landscape with Trees Oil on canvas mounted on wood. 80 x 94.5 cm. Framed. Signed lower right. Klaus Fussmann is one of the most important representatives of representational painting in Germany after 1945. He painted still lifes and landscapes at a time when such subjects were considered outdated. The painting depicts a vast, flat landscape beneath a high, light-gray sky. Three dark tree crowns stand on the horizon like a silent row of sentinels; in front of them, a sandy path winds its way into the picture. On the left, a large meadow opens up in a dynamic, iridescent green, while at the right edge of the painting, a light-colored wall or post-like structure catches the eye, and behind it, a house with a dark red roof appears as a colorful focal point of the composition.
