The first Tyrannosaurus Rex leather bag to be offered at auction at Hôtel Drouot

O n 11 June 2026, as part of its Tentation°4 sale at Hôtel Drouot, auction house Giquello will present an object unlike any previously seen in the history of luxury: the world’s first bag crafted in T-Rex Leather™.
Following its international unveiling in Amsterdam in April 2026, this extraordinary creation will now make its auction debut. Estimated at €300,000–500,000, it is set to become one of the most singular lots ever offered at auction.

Paris – a fitting setting for this landmark sale

The choice of Paris and Hôtel Drouot for this sale is highly symbolic. As the global capital of luxury and one of the historic centres of the art market, Paris has, for centuries, been the meeting point for exceptional craftsmanship and discerning collectors. Since 1852, Drouot has stood at the very heart of the French auction world. Maison Giquello was selected for its recognised expertise in rare objects and natural history – a particularly fitting specialism for the presentation of a work that sits at the crossroads of both fields.

“This T-Rex Leather™ bag marks a defining moment in my career: a one-of-a-kind piece that stands as a historic milestone, Aadefining moment that challenges the boundaries of creativity and luxury. After its exhibition in Amsterdam, its sale at the Hôtel Drouot felt like a natural next step.”
Alexandre Giquello, Auctioneer, Giquello

"As a specialist accustomed to working daily with dinosaurs and their fossil remains, I could never have imagined one day being able, in a sense, to touch their skin. This piece represents a striking dialogue between the prehistory we study and the possibilities opened up by contemporary science."
Iacopo Briano, Specialist

A scientific breakthrough shaping a new vision of luxury

T-Rex Leather™ is the result of several years of research undertaken by Lab-Grown Leather Limited, a subsidiary of BSF Enterprise PLC, in collaboration with The Organoid Company. The process is based on the reconstruction of T. rex protein sequences, which are introduced into specialised cellular systems to produce a collagen-based material entirely free from animal farming. The resulting leather is then treated using traditional vegetable tanning techniques

A new icon of luxury fashion

The bag was created exclusively by avantgarde techwear label Enfin Levé, founded by Polish designer Michal Hadas. Defined by its clean, architectural silhouette, the piece avoids unnecessary embellishment, allowing the material itself to take centre stage.

Its silver fittings give the bag an almost sculptural quality: a lost-wax cast buckle; a cold-forged silver element inspired by the DNA double helix, subtly referencing the experimental origins of the material; and the house hallmark, placing the piece firmly within the tradition of signed and highly crafted objects.

Luxury and sustainability – rethinking exclusivity

Beyond its technical achievement, T-Rex Leather™ raises broader questions about the future of precious materials. For centuries, the prestige of leather has been tied to rarity and exclusivity, often at considerable environmental cost. T-Rex Leather™ offers an alternative vision: one in which exclusivity no longer relies on extraction or intensive farming, while reducing some of the most resource-intensive stages associated with traditional tanning and leather production.

Through this creation, T-Rex Leather™ points towards entirely new possibilities for the materials of tomorrow and their place within the worlds of luxury and design.
