CHINA Große Bi-Scheibe aus wolkenweißer Jade. Durchmesser: 59 cm. Maximales Gewicht: 15 kg. 20. Jahrhundert. Die Herstellung von B-Scheiben geht mindestens auf die Liangzhu-Kultur (3300-2000 v. Chr.) zurück und setzte sich über mehrere Jahrtausende bis in die Han-Dynastie fort. Varianten mit mehr oder weniger Verzierungen wurden jedoch auch noch lange danach angefertigt. Das Nationalmuseum im Palast zeigt ein Exemplar aus der Ming-Dynastie, das auf der einen Seite mit Drachen und auf der anderen mit runden Körnern verziert ist. Die Scheibe scheint ursprünglich eine rituelle Funktion gehabt zu haben.
