Wunderschöne illustrierte Ausgabe mit 63 Original-Farbillustrationen von Georges Barbier, in einem reizvollen Einband aus mosaikartigem Maroquinleder von Michon. Paris, Mornay (Reihe „Les Beaux livres“, Nr. 59), 1931. Großes quadratisches 8. Format, roter Halbledereinband mit Ecken, eingefasst mit einer goldenen Zierleiste, Rücken mit 4 Bünden, unterstrichen durch eine goldene Punktlinie, vergoldetes Blumenmuster und Mosaik aus schwarzem, havannafarbenem und rotem Maroquinleder, Autorenname in Goldbuchstaben, Datum unten, vergoldeter Kopf, illustrierte Buchdeckel und Rücken erhalten, eingefasster Schuber (Einband signiert von Michon) 284 Seiten, 63 Farbabbildungen von George Barbier, darunter eine als Frontispiz. Einband leicht berieben, Schuber leicht abgenutzt. Reizvolle illustrierte Ausgabe dieses Romans von Henri de Régner, dessen Handlung in der Zeit von Mandrin (dem berühmten Schmuggler des 18. Jahrhunderts) angesiedelt ist und dessen Hauptheld dessen Faszination für Abenteuer und Schmuggel teilt. Die Illustration umfasst 63 originale, mit Schablonen kolorierte Kompositionen von George Barbier, der hier eine seiner letzten großen Illustrationen vor seinem frühen Tod im Jahr 1932 schuf. Die Auflage ist auf 1.075 Exemplare limitiert; dieses Exemplar ist eines der 877 nummerierten Exemplare auf Rives-Papier (Nr. 882). Schönes Exemplar in Mosaikbindung.
