Wunderschöner Abzug auf aufgebrachtem China-Papier, mit der Widmung „A Madame Edwards“ versehen und mit Bleistift signiert. Winzige helle Stockflecken. Sehr schwache Oxidationsspuren an der Öffnung einer früheren Einrahmung. Kleine Knickstelle in der unteren linken Ecke. Kleiner rostfarbener Fleck auf der Rückseite. Alle Ränder vorhanden. Gesamtauflage 59 Abzüge. Ex-Sammlung F. E. Bliss (L. 265): H. M. Petiet (Lugt 5031). Stempel AABM (Lugt 3075). Henri Fantin-Latour und der englische Maler und Radierer Edwin Edwards pflegten seit den 1860er Jahren eine tiefe Freundschaft und eine enge berufliche Zusammenarbeit. Edwin Edwards wurde ab den 1870er Jahren Fantin-Latours offizieller Vertreter und Händler in England, half ihm beim Verkauf seiner berühmten Blumenbilder und versorgte ihn mit Künstlerbedarf. Trotz Spannungen, die mit den Schwierigkeiten in Edwards’ eigener künstlerischer Laufbahn und seiner Hinwendung zu verstärkten geschäftlichen Aktivitäten Mitte der 1870er Jahre zusammenhingen, hielt ihre Verbindung bis zum Tod von Edwin Edwards im Jahr 1879 an, woraufhin Fantin seine Geschäftsbeziehungen mit dessen Ehefrau Ruth Edwards fortsetzte.
