Lele-Tanzmaske, DR Kongo. Bemerkenswerte, geschnitzte Holzmaske mit einer tiefen braun-schwarzen Patina; das längliche Gesicht mit gewölbten Augenbrauenbögen, schmalen Augen und einem halb geöffneten Mund ist mit alten weißen Pigmenten verziert. Das Ensemble bewahrt eine spektakuläre Verzierung aus Pflanzenfasern, die mit Kaurimuscheln, Glasperlen und Federn verziert ist und ihm eine bemerkenswerte ethnografische Ausstrahlung verleiht. Auf der Rückseite sind alte traditionelle Reparaturen durch Heftungen zu sehen, die von der Sorgfalt zeugen, mit der dieses zeremonielle Objekt konserviert wurde. Erste Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts.
