Der Entwurf stammt von Gerhard Brause und zeigt Gerda Jahn, eine junge Österreicherin, die 1957 einen Modelwettbewerb in der Jugendzeitung "Bravo" gewann und so zum ikonischen PEZ-Girl wurde. Mit der an ein Pin-Up angelehnten Darstellung folgte Brause der US-amerikanischen Leitkultur jener Zeit und schuf ohne ein einziges Wort zu nutzen eines der markantesten Werbemittel des 20.
