Riester, Rudolf "Straße in Marseille" Aquarell und Zimmermannsbleistift auf Aquarellpapier. 1929. 31,2 x 47,5 cm. Unten rechts mit Bleistift signiert "Riester" und datiert, verso nochmals datiert, betitelt und bezeichnet "124". Riester eignete sich früh die Mittel der formalen Ökonomie der Moderne an und setzte in seinen Kompositionen breite Pinselzüge und akzentuierende Striche in freiem Fluss nebeneinander. Er ging 1924 erst zu Karl Caspar an die Münchner Akademie, zog aber im Herbst nach Berlin, das seine zweite Heimat wurde und wo er 1925 auf die veristische Zeitströmung traf. 1928 wurde Riester Meisterschüler bei Hans Meid. Bereits früh reiste er nach Paris und in den Süden Frankreichs, wo das vorliegende Aquarell entstand.
