Stella Steyn, Irin, 1907–1987 – Nach Renoir; Öl auf Holz, 53,5 x 30,5 cm (ARR) Provenienz: Atelier der Künstlerin; Privatsammlung Anmerkung: Steyn gehörte zu einem Kreis irischer Kulturschaffender im Paris der Zwischenkriegszeit, zu dem auch Samuel Beckett und James Joyce zählten. Steyn schuf später Illustrationen für eine frühe Fassung von Joyces „Finnegans Wake“ mit dem Titel „Anna Livia Plurabelle“. Später reiste sie nach Deutschland, wo sie am Bauhaus bei Paul Klee und Joseph Albers studierte. Sie ließ sich im London der Nachkriegszeit nieder, wo sie 1951 in den renommierten Leicester Galleries und später gemeinsam mit Ivon Hitchens ausstellte. Ihre Werke befinden sich in öffentlichen Sammlungen, darunter die Government Art Collection und die Arts Council Collection, die ein dem vorliegenden Los ähnliches Werk mit dem Titel „Girl in a Blue Dress, 1951“ besitzt.
