Robert Medley CBE RA, britisch, 1905–1994 – Divertimento, 1975; Siebdruck auf Papier, unten rechts mit Bleistift signiert und datiert „Robert Medley 75“ sowie unten links betitelt und nummeriert „XVII/XXXV Divertimento“, 42 x 54,7 cm (ARR) Herkunft: Nachlass von Len Gordon und Anya Teixeira Anmerkung: Eine weitere Auflage dieses Werks befindet sich in der Sammlung der Tate. Medley wurde in seinen frühen Werken stark von der Bloomsbury Group beeinflusst und arbeitete zwischen 1929 und 1934 mit Vanessa Bell und Duncan Grant zusammen. Medley blickte auf eine abwechslungsreiche Karriere zurück und war in den 1930er Jahren insbesondere für sein Engagement im linken Theater bekannt, wo er Bühnenbilder und Kostüme für Stücke von T. S. Eliot, Christopher Isherwood, Louis MacNeice und seinem früheren Lebensgefährten W. H. Auden entwarf.
