K. GIER (*1954), Abstract composition featuring a white rectangle and Roman numerals, around 2000, M Karin Gier (born 1954 Düsseldorf): Abstract composition with white rectangle framed by Roman numerals, c. 2000, Mixed media Technique: Mixed media on Wood Date: c. 2000 Description: The artwork presents a complex arrangement of shapes and textures structured by framed compositions. A frame of Roman numerals surrounds the image, suggesting a temporal aspect or historical reference. In the centre is a rectangular area with layered, white paper that imitates a weathered surface and could thus symbolise transience or memories. The colours were presumably washed out afterwards, which reinforces the impression of wear, ageing and weathering. The warm earthy tones emphasise the antique feel of the work and lend it a timeless atmosphere.
