Unknown (18th), Target design, deer hunt, around 1790, Pencil Unknown (18th century): Shooting target design or design for a target crack, Hirschhatz, c. 1790, Pencil Technique: Pencil on Paper Date: c. 1790 Description: Hunting scene in the forest with stag and hounds. Such hunting discs were usually designed with depictions of huntable game species such as chamois, deer, foxes or wild boar. It is also possible that this is a disc sketch, i.e. a preliminary drawing for a stained glass window. Glass painting flourished from the 15th to the 17th century, which is also based on the custom of donating small glass paintings to each other to symbolise alliances, appointments or friendships. It is known that Albrecht Dürer and the artists working in his circle, Hans v. Kulmbach and H. Baldung Grien, as well as H. Holbein, produced designs for disc cracks.
