Bellange, Jacques Lagerszene vor der Stadt. Radierung. 27,4 x 21,6 cm. Robert-Dumesnil 37, Walch 19, Worthen/Reed 28, Griffiths/Hartley 39. Wz. Lothringer Kreuz mit doppeltem C, Nebenmarke (beide Griffiths/Hartley Nr. 29). Es wurde versucht, die Darstellung als Interpretation von Judith im Lager von Holofernis oder als eine Variante von Bellona und Mars zu deuten. Jüngeren Annahmen folgend, dass die sitzende Figur weniger eine weibliche als vielmehr eine männliche Person darstellt (gemessen an vergleichbaren Stilformen in Bellanges Œuvre), könnte die Szene möglicherweise eher von Torquato Tassos Gerusalemme liberata (1581) inspiriert worden sein. Ganz ausgezeichneter, harmonischer Druck meist an die überwiegend sichtbare Einfassungslinie geschnitten, teils minimal knapp innerhalb. Schwache und nur vereinzelte Stockfleckchen, winziges Rostfleckchen auf dem Rücken des Soldaten rechts, zarte Trockenfältchen verso, die obere linke Ecke ergänzt, weitere unbedeutende Handhabungsspuren, sonst sehr schön erhaltenes Exemplar. - Wir bitten darum, Zustandsberichte zu den Losen zu erfragen, da der Erhaltungszustand nur in Ausnahmefällen im Katalog angegeben ist. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalogue.
