HOLZSTICH (41 x 31 cm) aus dem Werk „Tableaux accomplis de tous les arts libéraux“ von Christophe de Savigny (Paris, de Gourmont, 1587), der den Autor zeigt, wie er sein Buch Louis de Gonzague, Herzog von Nevers, überreicht. Bündig mit der quadratischen Kontur ausgeschnitten, ohne Text auf der Rückseite. Berühmter Holzschnitt, ein Meisterwerk der französischen Holzschnittkunst. Er ist kraftvoll und ausdrucksstark gestaltet [...], da der Künstler einen Wandteppich mit den sehr aufwendigen Wappen des Prinzen nachbilden wollte. Dieses schöne Werk wurde von Papillon Jean Cousin zugeschrieben, doch erscheint es logischer, es J. de Gourmont zuzuschreiben, der es möglicherweise nach einer Zeichnung des Malers Nicolas Hilliard gestochen hat (Brun, S. 290).
