LUCA GIORDANO, Werkstatt (Neapel 1634 – 1705) DAS URTEIL DES PARIDES Öl auf Leinwand, 126 x 176 cm HERKUNFT Neapolitanische Familie Das mythologische Sujet, das im Epos „Cypria“ (7. Jahrhundert v. Chr.) erzählt wird, wurde sowohl von Luca Giordano als auch von seinen Schülern mit Variationen nachgebildet. Die vom Meister in den 1680er Jahren geschaffenen Versionen lassen vermuten, dass er sich bei der Gestaltung der Szene von demselben Motiv inspirieren ließ, das Pieter Paul Rubens zwischen 1638 und 1639 gemalt hatte und das sich heute in Madrid im Museo del Prado befindet.
