Willem Schellinks, zugeschrieben Waldlandschaft mit Reisenden auf einer Brücke Öl auf Leinwand (doubliert). 96 x 62,5 cm. Provenienz P. Rosenthal, Berlin, 1928 (als Willem Schellinks). - Wohl in den 1950/1960er Jahren im Münchner Kunsthandel erworben. - Norddeutsche Privatsammlung. Willem Schellinks war als Maler, Zeichner, Kupferstecher aber auch als Gelegenheitsdichter tätig. Auf seinen Reisen lernte er England, Frankreich und Italien sowie Sizilien und Malta kennen. Der Rückweg nach Amsterdam führte ihn über die Schweiz und Deutschland. Auf seinen Reisen fertigte er zahlreiche topographische Darstellungen. Aus diesem Fundus konnte er im Laufe seiner weiteren Karriere schöpfen. Auf seinen Gemälden stellte er vorwiegend Landschaften und Stadtansichten dar, wobei er sich vom Malstil der sog. Italianisanten insprieren ließ, vor allem vom Schaffen Jan Asselijns. Nach dem Tod des Künstlers wurden noch unfertige Gemälde von Frederik de Moucheron und Nicolaes Berchem vollendet.
