MARCEL MARTÍ BADENES (Alvear, Argentinien, 1925–Girona, 2010). Ohne Titel, 1985. Eisen. Auf dem Sockel signiert und datiert. Maße: 21 x 7 x 6 cm. Marcel Martí lebte seit seinem dritten Lebensjahr mit seiner Familie in Barcelona und studierte an der Kunstschule La Lonja. Er begann seine künstlerische Laufbahn 1942 als Maler, gab diese Tätigkeit jedoch 1953 auf, um sich ganz der Bildhauerei zu widmen. Seine erste Einzelausstellung fand 1948 in der Sala Caralt in Barcelona statt. Dank des Erfolgs dieser Ausstellung konnte Martí nach Paris reisen, wo er in die dortigen Künstlerkreise aufgenommen wurde. An der Akademie „Grande Chaumière“ nahm er Unterricht bei Zadkine und Lothe. Im Jahr 1950 reiste er durch Schweden und Italien, wo ihn das Werk Michelangelos tief beeindruckte, den Marcel Martí als Inbegriff eines vollendeten Künstlers betrachtete. Unter seinen Auszeichnungen sticht der Manolo-Hugué-Skulpturenpreis (1958) hervor, und er hat seine Werke in Spanien, Europa, den Vereinigten Staaten und Japan ausgestellt. Seine Werke sind unter anderem im Museum für abstrakte Skulptur an der La Castellana in Madrid, im Salvador-Allende-Museum in Chile, in den Museen für zeitgenössische Kunst in Vilafamés, Santa Cruz de Tenerife und Ibiza, im Museum für abstrakte Kunst in Cuenca sowie im San-Telmo-Museum in San Sebastián vertreten.
