GERMANY. PROBABLY THE UPPER RHINE REGION Title: Early Lime Love Box. Date: 15th Century. Material: Carved lime with a dark patina, forged iron, coloured woodcut. Measurement: 8.5 x 19.5 x 12.5 cm. Description: Rectangular body with a hinged lid. The exterior is decorated on all sides with rosettes set within rectangular panels, framed by finely serrated carvings. The iron band fittings feature three-leaf ornaments. The mortise lock has a recessed lock plate.
