Oktavformat (170 x 105 mm); 648, [48] Seiten. Holzschnitt-Druckzeichen auf dem Titelblatt. Einband aus dem 19. Jahrhundert in braunem Marokko-Leder, signiert „Lortic“, Deckel mit arabeskenartigen Verzierungen in Gold und Prägerahmen, Rücken mit 5 Bünden, Fleurons und Titel auf den Feldern, Innenkanteneinlage, vergoldete Schnittkanten (Scharniere leicht abgenutzt). Exlibris von Ambroise Firmin-Didot; Yves Burrus. Dieses Werk stellt die umfassendste Abhandlung über Landwirtschaft und Gartenbau des 16. Jahrhunderts dar und vereint die botanischen Schriften von Charles Estienne, darunter auch Werke, die ursprünglich als Kinderbücher konzipiert waren. Das Werk wurde später von Estienne selbst und seinem Schwiegersohn Jean Libault ins Französische übersetzt und 1564 unter dem Titel *La maison rustique* veröffentlicht; es galt bis zum Ende des 17.
