Zeitgenössischer Einband aus weichem Pergament (einige Flecken, Restaurierung am Rücken). Das Werk ist in drei Teile gegliedert und umfasst Kapitel über die verschiedenen Rassen, die Aufzucht von Fohlen, die Auswahl nach Qualität, die Dressur, das Zaumzeug, die tierärztliche Versorgung, das Beschlagen sowie die Ausbildung für den Krieg und das Duell. Der aus Pavia stammende Autor widmet das Werk Kardinal Alessandro Farnese, in dessen Dienst er durch die Ausbildung berühmter Pferde zu Reichtum gelangte.
