Wunderschöne, von Jean Bouchaud illustrierte Erstausgabe in einwandfreien, mit „Flammarion“ signierten Einbänden. Paris, Les Éditions Nationales, 1928. 2 Bände im Format in-4 (230 x 280 mm), jeweils in rotem Halbmarokko mit goldfarbener Zierleiste an den Ecken gebunden, Rücken mit 4 kaltgeprägten Scheinnerven, Autor und Titel vergoldet, vergoldeter Kopf, unbeschnittene farbige Einbände und Rücken erhalten. Einband von Flammarion. VII und 437 Seiten, 10 ganzseitige Abbildungen, darunter 2 Frontispize, 9 große farbige Kopf- und Fußstreifen sowie 9 farbige Lampenfußbilder, Karten im Text in Schwarz. Schöne illustrierte Ausgabe des Briefwechsels von Marschall Hubert Lyautey (1854–1934), die einen wertvollen Einblick in die kolonialen Verhältnisse in Tonkin und Madagaskar zwischen 1894 und 1899 gewährt. Erste Auflage der Illustrationen von Jean Bouchaud, bestehend aus 10 wunderschönen farbigen Aquarellen als Beilagen, die von den Kunstwerkstätten von Daniel Jacomet fein als Faksimile reproduziert wurden, sowie aus 9 großen Kopfbändern und 9 Fußbändern. Limitierte Auflage von 550 Exemplaren, dieses Exemplar ist eines der 500 auf Arches-Velin nummerierten Exemplare (Nr. 60). Sehr schönes Exemplar, sorgfältig von Flammarion herausgegeben, in perfektem Zustand.
