A fine Italian rapier with chiselled and gilt guard, probably Milan, circa 1580/90 Hochwertige Klinge mit abgeflachtem Mittelgrat. Im oberen Drittel beidseitig tiefe Kehlung mit geschlagener Signatur „SAHAGUN“. Kräftige, beidseitig leicht gekehlte Fehlschärfe, quartseitig geschlagen „V.I.“. Eisernes Gefäß mit weit ausladender gerader Parierstange. Fein geschnittener Noppendekor, die Feuervergoldung berieben. Originale Hilze mit einem erhaltenen Türkenbund. Kräftiger ovaler Knauf mit passendem Noppendekor und Resten von Vergoldung. Länge 126 cm. Alonzo de Sahagun, Schwertfeger in Toledo, tätig um 1570–99. Seine hochwertigen Klingen finden sich häufig in Waffen mit höfischem Umfeld. Vergleichsstücke finden sich u. a. im Kunsthistorischen Museum in Wien und in der Wallace Collection in London.
