CUVIER (Georges), 1769–1832. L.S. „G. Vauquier“ und „Vauquelin“, ohne Datum [5. Mai 1809, nach einer späteren handschriftlichen Bleistiftnotiz], 1 S. in-4. Cuvier übermittelt seinem Korrespondenten („„Eure Exzellenz““) den von Thouin und Desfontaines erstellten Bericht über die zur Untersuchung übergebenen Objekte. Bei dieser Gelegenheit lädt er ihn ein, ihre Einrichtung zu besuchen und sich selbst ein Bild davon zu machen, „„[...] was noch zu tun ist, um sie zu verbessern. Ihr Blick sagt mehr als alle Schriften [...] Die schöne Jahreszeit ist schon weit genug fortgeschritten, damit Ihnen dieser Spaziergang nicht unangenehm sein wird [...]“ In den Jahren 1808–1809 war Georges Cuvier Direktor des Muséum, Vauquelin dort Professor für angewandte Chemie, Desfontaines Professor für Botanik und André Thouin für die Kultivierung und Präparation von Pflanzen zuständig.
